West Texas Nursing Education Consortium launches a Centralized Application Service

Watertown, MA — Working with Liaison International, the West Texas Nursing Education Consortium (WTNEC) offers a convenient, state-of the-art, Web-based Centralized Application Service (CAS) that will allow applicants to apply to any number of participating member schools by completing a single application. Member schools include: Angelo State University, Cisco Junior College, El Paso Community College, Midland College, Midwestern State University, Odessa College, South Plains College, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, University of Texas El Paso, Vernon Community College, and West Texas A&M University.

The on-line application was specifically designed for ease and convenience. With far less paperwork, streamlined processing, and ongoing communication with applicants, WTNEC offers applicants the ability to apply to multiple programs.

The CAS is a result of a grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, which created the West Texas Nursing Education Portal Project. This project seeks to alleviate inefficiencies in the current application process and help with the West Texas nursing shortage for nursing schools, develop a centralized database, and track applicants and creating a retention portal.

Sharon Cannon, EdD, RN, regional dean of the School of Nursing indicates, “This important project will enable West Texas nursing schools to educate quality, well-trained nursing professionals who will help alleviate our area’s critical nursing shortage.”
