The Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers has partnered with Liaison International to launch a Centralized Application Service
Watertown, MA — Liaison International announced signing a contract with the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) to develop a new online Centralized Application Service (APPI Online). The AAPI Online was approved by a supermajority of APPIC members who voted on the Spring 2008 ballot. All APPIC member internship programs will be required to use the AAPI Online in the place of the current hard-copy, mailed-in application system beginning in the fall of 2009 for selection of the 2010-2011 training class.
Jeanette Hsu, Ph.D., Vice-Chair of the APPIC Board of Directors and Chair of the AAPI Online Committee comments, “The APPIC Board was determined to exercise due diligence and was extremely cautious in deciding to implement such significant change. Our membership has now voted to support the implementation of an Centralized Application System (CAS) by an overwhelming margin. We are convinced that a CAS will provide significant benefits to our member internship programs and applicants."
A Centralized Application Service (CAS) is a fully integrated application processing and selection processing service that includes a common application with a common set of requirements that are standard to all participating programs. The AAPI Online will include the following portals: Graduate Program Director of Clinical Training (DCT) portal, Applicant portal, Selection portal and Reference/Letters of Recommendation portal.
The Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) is an educational, non-profit organization with the mission of enhancing internship and postdoctoral training programs in professional psychology. Members are independent agencies conducting or sponsoring internship or postdoctoral training programs, with over 700 programs represented. The Association of Psychology Internship Centers (APIC) was formed in 1968 to bring order to the process of internship selection by publishing a directory of programs and to begin the development of national intern selection procedures. In 1991, APIC changed its name to APPIC adding postdoctoral training programs. In 1999, APPIC developed the national computer match for internship placement and in 2000 developed the APPIC Application for Psychology Internships (AAPI).
