The American Physical Therapy Association has partnered with Liaison International to launch a Centralized Application Service (PTCAS)

Watertown MA – Liaison International is pleased to announce it has signed a contract with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) to develop a new Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) for professional physical therapist (PT) programs. The new Centralized Application Service is scheduled to begin accepting applications on August 1, 2008 for the 2009 entering class.

PTCAS will provide a full service web-based application and admissions process for prospective applicants applying to participating physical therapist programs. The Service will make it easier for applicants to navigate the PT admissions process and will facilitate the local admissions process for PT programs.

APTA President Scott Ward indicates, "A web-based application service will improve the process for applicants seeking admission to physical therapist programs and provide the programs with support to facilitate the admissions and selection process. We are excited to partner with such an experienced vendor on this important project providing service to the many students who are applying to physical therapist programs across the country."

Physical therapists are health care professionals who diagnose and manage individuals of all ages, from newborns to elders, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. Physical therapists examine each individual and develop a plan of care using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. Physical therapists also work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility by developing fitness- and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.

The American Physical Therapy Association (www.apta.org) is a national organization representing nearly 70,000 physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students nationwide. Its goal is to foster advancements in physical therapist education, practice, and research. Consumers can access "Find a PT" to find a physical therapist in their area, as well as physical therapy news and information at www.apta.org/consumer.

Liaison International provides state-of-the-art information technology products and operational support for Centralized Application Services and eAccreditation supporting educational associations, accrediting agencies, and institutions of higher education.
