Release Engineer

Position Overview:

The Release Engineer, reporting to the Manager of Quality Assurance, will be responsible for administering, packaging, and deploying source code for internal and production use.

In addition, this person will be also be responsible for developing and qualifying software installation procedures and collaborating with the Software Development, Quality Assurance, and Infrastructure teams.

Liaison International, a stable, fast-growing, and profitable (for 20 years) company that specializes in providing state-of-the-art information technology products and services to educational associations, accrediting agencies, institutions of higher education, and health professions, is seeking a candidate with skills and experience in the area of Software Quality Assurance (QA). This position requires a solid understanding of web applications, relational databases and SQL queries, as well as automated & manual testing methods. Positions are available in our Watertown, MA office as well as our Buffalo, NY office.

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage the source code control system (Subversion) for multiple projects and release platforms.
  • Develop revision control, configuration management, and software process policies as well as interacting with other team members to enforce these policies.
  • Develop exception reports to pro-actively identify policy violations and correct processes appropriately.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain automated build scripts.
  • Work with members of the Software Development & Infrastructure teams to continually expand on and improve the software release process.
  • Develop and maintain tools for release management.
  • Perform content and software releases to online production systems.
  • Monitor daily builds and communicate with developers about build failures.
  • Maintain and administer Wiki knowledge base sites for internal teams.
  • Maintain and administer the issue/defect/project tracking system

What you'll need for this position:

  • Solid and demonstrable understanding of source control methodology, including branching/merging
  • 3-5 years experience administering one of the following SCM systems:
    • Subversion Source Control (preferred)
    • Git
    • Concurrent Versions System (CVS)
    • Perforce Source Control
    • Rational ClearCase
  • Experience with any one of several issue tracking tools, including administering it (Trac or JIRA a strong plus)
  • Strong experience with Linux / Apache environment
  • Experience with ant or a similar build/make tool
  • Experience with a scripting language such as PERL, ksh, bash
