Software Development Business Analyst

Liaison International, a stable, fast-growing, and profitable (for 20 years) company that specializes in providing state-of-the-art information technology products and services to educational associations, accrediting agencies, institutions of higher education, and health professions, is seeking a candidate with skills and experience in Business Analysis to join our talented team of technologists and take on high profile projects immediately.

What you need for this position:

  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • 4+ years experience in a technical business analysis role and writing functional specification documents
  • Direct experience working with Internet/web application technologies & development teams
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Visio, skills in graphic or desktop publishing applications, HTML a plus
  • Exceptional communication skills and proven experience in writing functional specification documents
  • Proven experience in client-facing requirements analysis, investigation, and interpretation
  • Thorough knowledge of the product development process
  • Advanced skills in technical writing and capable of authoring clear and concise documentation
  • Strong understanding of the SDLC, and familiarity with database concepts & schemas
  • Must be self-motivated, adaptable, hands-on, and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and multi-task
  • Ability to adapt to adjustments in production priorities
  • Project Management experience a plus.
  • Professional Certificate in Business Analysis a plus.

What you'll be doing:

  • Interface with clients, Product Managers, and other project stakeholders to analyze, interpret, and identify a product's business requirements, scope, issues, and solutions
  • Write functional specification documents based on the client's business requirements and interviews with subject matter experts and technical team; submit to management for review and approval
  • Work with Project Management to develop and include product timelines, milestones, and estimated development time into the functional specifications document
  • Clearly communicate risks & changes to the project team and management
  • Serve as the first point of contact for project teams and management regarding documented product features and requirements
  • Communicate business rules and technical specifications to the development team.
  • Ensure that the development team is developing and/or QA testing all deliverables according to technical and/or functional specifications.
  • Ensure product functional specification documents are complete, current, and archived appropriately
  • Interface with operations team leaders to ensure the product's functionality is accurately represented in product marketing materials and presentations
  • Participate in writing other product development materials as needed
